Uranium ore mining in Aue-Bad Schlema surpassed all previous mining activities in the Ore Mountains in terms of scale and impact. The ruthless exploitation of the available resources at the beginning changed the landscape of the western Erzgebirge with large, contaminated dumps to a previously unknown extent. Since 1990, all areas have been cleaned up and restored. In the Uranium Mining Museum you can experience the change in the landscape.
